Mark Mapletoft was appointed head coach of the England U20 Men’s side in
May 2023. He previously held the role of assistant coach with England U18
Men.
As a player, he represented Gloucester Rugby, Harlequins and London Irish
during a career which also saw him earn a test cap for England in 1997.
The former full-back and fly-half has since had extensive experience
mentoring age grade players, including as the national academy coach for
the RFU from 2007-2010 and more than a decade coaching at Harlequins.
Mapletoft led England U20s to Six Nations and World Rugby U20
Championship glory in 2024, their first international double in a calendar
year since 2013. He went on to coach England Men's A against Australia A at
the Twickenham Stoop last November.
