Ben Youngs stars in his 100th test as England grab a bonus point win over Italy

Ben Youngs scored two tries as England moved top of the Six Nations after a bonus-point 34-5 win over Italy to give them hope of winning the title.

In total, Eddie Jones’ side ran in five tries as scrum-half Ben Youngs scored twice as he became the second England player to reach 100 caps after Jason Leonard while hooker Jamie George who hit 50 caps also crossed the whitewash.

There were also debuts for Jonny Hills, Ollie Lawrence, Ollie Thorley and Tom Dunn in Rome. England They will now wait for the result in the France against Ireland match to see if they are 2020 Six Nations champions.

England will be crowned the champions unless Ireland beat France and secure a bonus point or beat the French by seven points or they score at least one try in a six-point win. France need a bonus-point victory and beat Ireland by 32 points to win the title.

Jones' men got off to a fast start when Owen Farrell’s breakthrough the midfield on the halfway line sent centurion Youngs through to cruise in under the posts in the fifth minute.

After Farrell added a simple penalty, Italy got themselves on the scoreboard when Gloucester No 8 Jake Polledri finished well in the corner after England had spilled the ball inside their own half.

There was no further change to the scoreline but Jonny Hill did get sent to the sin bin for a high tackle while Jake Polledri spent time in the bin too as led 10-5 after the first 40 minutes.

Youngs started the second half as he did the fist as he sniped through the Italian defence to grab his second try within two minutes of the restart.

England continued their dominance after the restart and a well-constructed driving maul saw George dot down in his 50th cap before Tom Curry spotted a space down the blindside off the back of a ruck to run in from close range and secure the bonus point.

A well-weighted grubber via the boot of Owen Farrell set up the fifth try which Ben Earl gathered and off the floor popped up a pass to Henry Slade who stepped a defender to slide over for his third try in as many games after scoring in the Champions Cup and Premiership final for Exeter.

Italy have now lost all 27 Test matches against England while the Azzuri have also lost 27 games straight in the Six Nations.
