Province pick up a penalty advantage at scrum time and spark an attack down the right wing - but nothing comes of it, and the referee returns for the penalty. Van Aswegen slots it from a comfortable position and secures 3 points for his side.
After a promising period of attack from the home-side, Gary van Aswegan throws a floating, misdirected pass into the hands of an opportunistic Riaan Smit. Smit tucks the ball under on arm and tears downfield for the score. Province under pressure, 14 points down.
Difficult conditions making for numerous errors. A knock on from Carr gifts the Cheetahs with a scrum - but the scrum collapses and Oosthuizen is singled out as the guilty party. WP point to posts but Van Aswegen can't convert. The score remains 7-0.
Elgar Watts receives the ball midfield and sells a phenomenal dummy before scything through the defence. He outpaces the final defenders with some impressive pace before dotting down for the try. Superb individual effort!
Nizaam Carr is pinged for holding and the Cheetahs earn their first kickable penalty. But they boldly opt for the corner. They set the line-out but fail to secure the ball and WP relieve pressure. Points go a-begging..
Thanks gutted normally these games on Sky Sports Extra. So I'm looking forward to your game description!!

Conditions are wet and cold - we may be in store for a grinding, forwards' battle..
Good evening and welcome to our Currie Cup coverage. The defending champions, Western Province, welcome the team that finished bottom last season, Cheetahs, to the DHL Newlands. WP will be keen to bounce back from their loss to the Blues last week, whilst the Cheetahs will be in search of a second away win, following their success against the Lions in Ellis Park last week. Kick off on the way!
