Wallabies name their touring squad for Round three and four
- 1378
Western Force recruit Brandon Paenga-Amosa and lock Josh Canham have both been selected in their first Wallabies squad of 2024, with the former having returned to home soil earlier this year following a three-year stint with Montpellier in France.
His new club teammate and Wallaby number 898, Tom Robertson has also earned a recall to the national set up, as has uncapped Brumbies-bound inside centre David Feliuai, with Hunter Paisami ruled out of the trip through injury.
Waratahs back rower Langi Gleeson returns to the group after recovering from an ankle issue, with Max Jorgensen and Carlo Tizzano both set to make the trip to Buenos Aires, having made their Wallabies debuts over the past fortnight against South Africa.
Test centurion James Slipper could reach the remarkable milestone of the most capped Wallaby of all time if he plays both Tests of the tour and currently sits just one match shy of George Gregan’s record of 139 matches for Australia.
The squad will travel to Argentina on Friday ahead of Tests against Los Pumas in La Plata and Santa Fe.
Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt said: “It’s been a challenging couple of weeks but as a coaching group we are keen to continue trying to help a mostly consistent group go forward.”
“The Pumas have a talented and robust squad, which, along with the travel, will require further improvement from our squad.”
