Andrew Kellaway, born on October 12, 1995, is an Australian rugby union player currently representing the Melbourne Rebels in the Super Rugby competition. He has also played for the Waratahs and the English club Northampton. Kellaway has earned caps for Australia's national team, the Wallabies.
He primarily plays as a centre, fullback, or wing.
Kellaway's rugby journey began at the Hunters Hill Rugby Club, where he played junior rugby. He quickly progressed through the ranks and had the opportunity to represent Australia at the schoolboy and under-20 levels.
Notably, he set a record at the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship by scoring ten tries, surpassing the previous record held by Julian Savea and Zac Guildford. He continued his impressive form by captaining the under-20 side in 2015.
In 2014, Kellaway joined the New South Wales Country Eagles in the National Rugby Championship. He made his run-on debut for the Waratahs in Super Rugby against the Brumbies in April 2016. Following his strong performance, he signed a two-year contract extension with the Waratahs.
In 2018, Kellaway made a move to the English Premiership side Northampton Saints for the 2018-2019 season. After his stint in England, he returned to Australia and joined the Melbourne Rebels for the 2020 season. Prior to his involvement with the Rebels, he played for Counties Manukau alongside Sonny Bill Williams in New Zealand.
In 2021, Kellaway returned to the Rebels for the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competition and received a call-up to the Wallabies squad for the mid-year tests under national coach Dave Rennie. He made his international debut against France at Suncorp Stadium in July 2021.
Throughout his debut season with the Wallabies, Kellaway scored nine tries, which was the second-highest tally by a Wallabies debutant in a single season. His outstanding performances earned him Rugby Australia's Rookie of the Year award.
Andrew Kellaway's versatility, try-scoring ability, and contributions to both club and international rugby make him a valuable asset to the Melbourne Rebels and the Wallabies.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Kellaway has been named in the training squad for Australia.
