Agreed!
He'll yea
All over here at Newlands and the Sharks are the Currie Cup champions for 2013! On the balance of play today, there is no doubt they deserved it. The hungrier, more aggresive side have been relentless in defence and this pressure has led to an awful lot of their scoring opportunities. The half back pairing of McLeod and Lambie have been pivitol even if Lambie struggled slightly from the tee at times. Many of these Sharks players have put themselves in the shop window in the lead up to the November internationals. From a Western Province perspective they came up short after being undefeated all campaign. They struggled at kick-off time and were not precise or intense enough in attack and paid the price. Well done Sharks, deserved champions.
PENALTY SHARKS. Lambie puts what will surely be the final nail in the WP coffin, opening up his sides biggest lead so far of 14 points. 33-19 the score.
Eben Etzebeth is now wearing the number 25 jersey after having his own torn in a contact situation.
Michael Rhodes is penalised by the TMO for wrapping his arms around the neck of Sharks hooker Bismarck Du Plessis while his side marched a maul towards the Sharks line. Penalty given to the Sharks and they clear, could be a cruacial moment.
Western Province put together their best passage of the match, Gio Aplon and Jean De Villiers combine to free Cheslin Kolbe who is eventually bundled in touch. Advantage was being played however so now WP have a line-out just 5 out from the Sharks line.
Man of the match
No try! Gio Aplon got a good tackle in on his opposite number and replays show he forced Marais into touch before he managed to ground it. Western Province still in with a chance.
Once again the TMO is called in after the Sharks cross the Western Province line for what could be the game sealer. Great play from Charl McLeod brings the ball out of the Sharks half, he found Odwa Ndungane who carried deep into the opposition half. From there the ball goes wide and great hands get's the ball to SP Marais who touches down in the corner.
