Born in Olympia, Washington, Lavalla is a well travelled man despite his youth. Born in 1988, Lavalla completed high school in America before relocating to Ireland to study at Trinity College Dublin. He captained the College first XV before being signed by Stade Francais in the summer of 2011. Lavalla, who can operate comfortably in either the second or back row, made his international debut for the Eagles in the 2010 Churchill Cup and has gone on to represent his country at the 2011 World Cup. A dynamic ball carrier, Lavalla has earned himself a quality reputation across the French Top 14.
