Born in Eboli, Italy, Staibano is a powerful scrummaging prop who operates primarily on the loosehead side. His professional career began in 2001 aged just 18 when he joined Overmach Parma. Six years later he joined Castres in the French Top 14 before moving to Aironi for their solitary season in existence. In 2006 he made his debut for Italy against Japan. In 2011, Staibano joined London Wasps in the English Premiership.
