A product of Dandenong High School, the 130kg 6ft5 prop was born, raised and schooled in Melbourne Australia.
A tall, powerful ball-runner, Fa’amausili made his debut in the National Rugby Championship for the Melbourne Rising in the 2017 season, before being signed as a supplementary squad player for the 2018 Super Rugby season.
A product of the Victorian Rugby system and the Moorabbin Rams Rugby Club, Fa’amausili became the 133rd Melbourne Rebels player when he came off the bench in the Melbourne Rebels win over the Sunwolves at AAMI Park in May 2018.
The following month, the prop signed a new deal to remain with the Melbourne Rebels until at least 2020.
Fa’amausili made more strides in his second year of Super Rugby. The prop played four games in 2019 and averaged 22 minutes, double the amount from last season.
He used his 130kg frame to develop into a damaging forward for the 2020 season and after a standout Super Rugby AU campaign he was called into the Wallabies squad for the 2020 test season.
In 2022, Fa’amausili was picked in the Wallabies squad for the Argentine leg of The Rugby Championship and he won his first, long awaited cap in the second Pumas’ Test at San Juan. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury following a questionable cleanout while playing for Australia ‘A’ against Japan, forced Fa’amausili to miss the end-of-season Spring Tour.
However, later in that year Fa’amausili won his first international cap off the bench when he replaced Taniela Tupou in the 58th minute of the 17-48 second Test loss to Argentina. Ironically, a calf injury to Tupou opened the door for Fa’amausili to be capped in both Tests against New Zealand.
In his 22/23 Super Rugby Pacific season, Fa’amausili played 14 matches for the Rebels scoring 1 try.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Fa'amausili has been named in the training squad for Australia.
Pone has signed a one year deal with Moana Pasifika ahead of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.
