Trevor Woodman to join Connacht Rugby at the end of the season.

Gloucester Rugby legend, Trevor Woodman, will depart his role as Assistant Coach this summer to join United Rugby Championship outfit, Connacht Rugby.

Woodman made 140 appearances for the Club as a player, playing a vital role in the Cherry & Whites’ 2003 Powergen Cup win. At international level, Woodman won 22 caps for England, including the victorious 2003 Rugby World Cup Final.

Retiring from the game due to injury in 2005, Woodman moved to Australia, where he took his first steps into coaching at Sydney University and then as the National Scrum Coach of Rugby Australia.

Woodman returned to English shores as Forwards Coach at Wasps for four seasons, before making a Kingsholm return in 2014, specialising in the scrum and developing young players in their transition from the Academy.

Since George Skivington joined the Club in 2020, Woodman has held the role of Assistant Forwards Coach, leading the Gloucester Rugby scrum.

Skivington said:

“Trevor has been an immense servant of this Club both as a player and a coach, so he’ll leave with nothing but respect and gratitude for his time here.

“Our scrum has been strong under Trevor’s guidance; he’s done great work in that area. He’ll be sorely missed, but we’ve got some great guys coming into the building too, which is exciting.”

Woodman added:

“Kingsholm means a great deal to me, so of course it’s difficult to say goodbye to a hugely passionate fanbase and unique Club.”

“I wish the Club all the best for the future, and I look forward to following the lads’ future successes from afar.”
