Reds flyhalf Gordon comfortable with goal-kicking duties once again

Queensland Reds flyhalf Carter Gordon believes it was a natural progression to return to goal-kicking as he overcomes a frustrating injury-filled debut season in maroon.
Gordon took over the duties for the first time since his return from the NRL, slotting his first three in a narrow win over Moana Pasifika.
Scrumhalf Louis Werchon and fullback Jock Campbell had taken the duties in the past, with Gordon dealing with injury in 2026.
"I've been trying to ease back into it," the flyhalf said.
"I had a few niggles there at the start of the year, but I've been able to put a few weeks of good practice in, and I was lucky enough to get out there on the weekend and bring the tea out again.
"...It's been a little bit frustrating, played a few games, missed a few games but been able to put a few together now so looking to add to that for the rest of the year."
The Reds still have plenty to play for this weekend against the Fijian Drua, even with their finals hopes locked up.

They can climb to as high as fourth on the ladder, with current projections pitting them with the difficult task of travelling to Wellington to face the top-ranked Hurricanes.
"We're going out there to win the game so we're focused on the Fijian Drua, we're not looking past that," Gordon insists.
"We're putting things in play to obviously fix what needs to be fixed from last week but we're looking to play our best rugby this week against the Drua and wherever that finishes us on the table, we'll look at that next week.
"I feel like we've been building throughout the year. We probably haven't played the rugby that we've wanted to, but in saying that, we've still got obviously a few weeks ahead of us to put things in place, to fix things that need to be fixed, and I think this week's a really good opportunity for us to do that leading into the finals."
