Dobie set for century as two in line for debuts

Jamie Dobie will become the 61st centurion in club history this weekend, after being selected on the wing for Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship opener against Munster at Thomond Park.
The 25-year-old is one of 13 players that toured with Scotland during the summer to be selected in the matchday 23, as the Warriors travel to Limerick for their first competitive outing of the 2026/27 season.
There are also potential debuts for academy scrum-half Callum Reidy and summer signing Bayley Kuenzle, after both men were selected amongst the replacements for the trip to Thomond Park.
Up front, Gregor Hiddleston is given the nod at hooker as he makes his 50th appearance for the club, packing down between Patrick Schickerling and Murphy Walker in the front row.
Gregor Brown and Max Williamson are paired together in the second row, both men having made an impact during their summer outings with Scotland.
Ally Miller – fresh from captaining the squad in last weekend’s pre-season meeting with Bath – starts on the blindside flank, with Rory Darge and Matt Fagerson completing the starting pack.
George Horne and Dan Lancaster combine in the half-backs, the latter having scored his first competitive try for Glasgow Warriors in January’s win over Munster at Scotstoun.
Stafford McDowall captains the team from inside centre, with Ollie Smith partnering the skipper in the midfield as he pulls on the number 13 jersey.
Dobie lines up on the wing for his 100th outing in Glasgow colours, as Kyle Rowe and Josh McKay join him in the back three.
Seb Stephen lines up as the replacement hooker, joining Nathan McBeth and Sam Talakai as the front row cover for Saturday’s clash.
Scott Cummings wears the 19 shirt after winning his 50th cap for Scotland during the summer internationals, whilst Angus Fraser and Macenzzie Duncan cover the back row in a six-two split of forwards and backs.
Reidy and Kuenzle cover the backs, with both men having impressed in their pre-season outings for Franco Smith’s side.
Speaking following selection, Head Coach Smith told glasgowwarriors.org: “The whole squad is looking forward to the start of a new BKT URC season this weekend, as we travel to one of the toughest venues in the competition to start our campaign.
“Everyone at the club is proud to see Jamie bring up a century of appearances – he is someone who cares a great deal about being a Warrior, and who gives his all each time he steps onto the field.
“We are also pleased to include Callum and Bayley in a Glasgow Warriors matchday 23 for the first time. Both men have worked hard during the summer to put themselves in this position and have earned their opportunity.”
