George Horne, born on May 12, 1995, is a professional rugby union player from Scotland who primarily plays as a scrum-half for the Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship. He has also represented Scotland at the international level, making his test debut against the United States during the 2018 Summer Internationals.

Horne started his rugby journey in the school system, attending Bell Baxter High School before moving on to Strathallan School. He is currently studying physical education at the University of Edinburgh. During his amateur career, Horne played for Howe of Fife and Currie. He also represents the Glasgow Hawks, an amateur team, when he is not playing for the Warriors.

Horne made his debut for the Glasgow Warriors against Ospreys in November 2016. He initially developed his rugby skills at the Howe of Fife club and represented Scotland at various age-grade levels, including U17, U19, and U20. He also played for the Caledonia region at all age-grade levels.

In his debut season with the Glasgow Warriors, Horne had a significant impact, scoring ten tries across all competitions. His exceptional performances earned him the Young Player of the Season and Player of the Season awards at the club's annual end-of-season awards dinner.

Horne's impressive form caught the attention of national selectors, leading to his first senior cap for Scotland in a close 30-29 defeat against the USA during the 2018 summer tour. In his second test, Horne scored his first international tries, contributing two tries to Scotland's memorable 44-15 victory over Argentina in Resistencia.

Prior to his senior international debut, Horne played a vital role in Scotland's U20 team, including their victory against Wales in the 2015 Six Nations Championship, where he kicked eight goals from eight attempts and scored a try against Italy in a 45-0 win.

Horne also participated in the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2015, appearing in all five games and starting in the pool stage match against Ireland. He was also a key member of the Scotland 7s squad that achieved victory at Twickenham in the final leg of the 2016/17 World Sevens Series.

George Horne is the brother of Peter Horne, a Scotland and Glasgow Warriors center, and his father, Garry, coaches the Howe of Fife 1XV team. His mother, Hazel, is a tennis coach, and George has also represented the North of Scotland at national championships in tennis, showcasing his versatility and sporting abilities.

In April 2017, Horne signed his first professional contract with the Glasgow Warriors after playing for Glasgow Hawks in the Scottish Premiership. Despite his modest frame, he is known for his reliability as a placekicker and his tenacity in tackling.

In February 2018, Horne extended his contract with Glasgow until May 2019. He was included in Scotland's squad for the 2018 Summer Tour in May 2018.

Horne was the top try-scorer for the Glasgow Warriors during the 2017/18 season, his first season as a professional, and was honored with the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards at the end-of-year awards dinner. In December 2018, he signed a new contract with the Glasgow Warriors, committing to the club until at least 2021.

As of September 2019, Horne had represented Scotland on 10 occasions and scored 32 points. He had made 46 appearances for the Glasgow Warriors and scored 24 tries as of December 2019.
Horne has been selected to play for Scotland ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023.
