The Leicester Tigers and Montpellier clash in the Challenge Cup Final. The Leicester Tigers beat Ulster 33-24 in the semi-finals, while Montpellier recorded a 19-10 victory over Bath in the last four. We are set for a cracking final after which one of these sides will be crowned Challenge Cup champions. I'm Craig and will be taking you through the action with live updates and running commentary.
Leicester Tigers’ veteran, Richard Wigglesworth, as well as Montpellier’s Titi Lamositele, Alex Lozowski and Guilhem Guirado, who have all tasted Champions Cup success with Saracens and RC Toulon respectively, will be looking to add to their medal collections on Friday if selected.
Montpellier’s Forwards Coach, Olivier Azam, is a two-time Challenge Cup winner, firstly with Montferrand (now ASM Clermont Auvergne) in 1999 and with Gloucester Rugby in 2006. He was also Man of the Match in the 2004 final when Montferrand lost to Harlequins.
Leicester Tigers’ Head Coach, Steve Borthwick, captained Bath Rugby to Challenge Cup success in the 2008 final against Worcester Warriors and was also on the losing side for the Premiership club in the 2003 and 2007 finals.
Montpellier may be back in the Challenge Cup final looking for a second win, but it is the first time Leicester Tigers have gone this far in the tournament. Tigers are the 26th different club to reach the final and if they emerge victorious, they will become the 17th name on the trophy.
