Thomas Wright, born on July 21, 1997, is an Australian professional rugby player who has excelled in both rugby league and rugby union.

He currently serves as a fullback for the Brumbies in Super Rugby and represents the Australian national team, the Wallabies.

Wright's sporting journey began in Randwick, New South Wales, Australia. He played junior rugby league for the Clovelly Crocodiles and La Perouse Panthers. He also played junior rugby union for the Clovelly Eagles and continued his rugby union career while attending St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill.

In rugby league, Wright made his debut in the NRL for the Manly Sea Eagles in Round 10 of the 2018 season against the Brisbane Broncos. He quickly showcased his impressive skills, including electric pace, a deceptive step, and a keen eye for scoring tries.

While considered a potential contender for the Australian Sevens team in the Rio Olympics in 2016, Wright declined a Sevens contract to join the Manly Sea Eagles. He made his first-grade debut in the 2017/18 season, scoring one try in five appearances.

However, Wright's passion for rugby union led him to make a transition back to the sport. In September 2018, he signed a two-year deal with the ACT Brumbies, a prominent rugby union club. Known for his versatility, Wright has played various positions across the backline for the Brumbies, including outside centre and wing. His ability to beat defenders in tight spaces makes him a dangerous threat regardless of where he plays.

Wright's impact with the Brumbies has been significant. In the 2019 Super Rugby season, he appeared in 13 out of the team's 18 matches, scoring three tries. He continued his impressive form at the start of the 2020 season, scoring four tries in just five matches before the season was temporarily halted.

His performances caught the attention of the national team selectors, and Wright made his test debut for the Wallabies against the All Blacks in Brisbane in 2020. Impressively, he scored with his first touch in Test rugby. As of the end of 2020, he has earned three test caps.

By June 10, 2021, Wright had scored 16 tries in 35 appearances for the Brumbies, showcasing his livewire talent and try-scoring ability. He extended his contract with the Brumbies and Rugby Australia for an additional two seasons, committing until the end of the 2023 season. With his versatility and impactful performances, Wright continues to make his mark in Australian rugby.
