Son of former All Black captain Sir Michael Jones, Niko has been widely tipped for greatness having burst onto the scene as a schoolboy sensation.
Described as a generational talent that has thoroughbred athleticism and sublime skills, Niko led his St Peters 1st XV to a national title in 2018.
Jones has physicality in contact and an ability over the ball with his time in Sevens set to push his conditioning to another level.
Jones' eye-catching performances in the Top Four competition resulted in his inclusion in the 2019 All Blacks Sevens squad with a foot injury playing for the All Blacks Sevens Development thwarting his chances of an international debut in 2019.
His exploits as a schoolboy saw Jones become one of New Zealand rugby's hottest young prospects with the Blues and Crusaders offering him a contract with Jones signing a two-year deal with his home-town Auckland provincial union.
With Sevens Rugby on hold due to the global pandemic, Jones is set to make his first step into professional rugby after being included in the 2020 Auckland Mitre 10 Cup squad having being involved with the Blues Academy and youth sides.
