John Dobson's honest analysis of Stormers' performance

The Stormers managed to see off Ulster at the death to break into the URC final, but it will be a tough week ahead as Head Coach John Dobson was not convinced by the overall showing of his troops.
The final whistle sounded in the 84th minute with the score at 17-15 to the men from Cape Town but it was a last-gasp try which saved them after an error-laden effort.
“It was a frustrating performance,” said Dobson.
“Our discipline was poor, which was not only in terms of the unsatisfactory experience with the referee, but also just in terms of how we didn’t stick with the plan.
“It was a poor performance and we dropped a lot of balls.”
With the negatives in mind, Dobson was able to give credit where it was due, not losing sight of the fact that his team still managed to take down one of the giants of Irish rugby.
“To come back and dominate with 14 men on the field against a team like Ulster was very special.
“There are some learnings from the game and we will focus on that this week.
“We were loose with the ball and we were loose with the kicking, but there were some really pleasing elements.
“To lose only one line-out against a team that has [Iain] Henderson in it is special, especially in a high-pressure environment.
“We stopped the best maul in Europe for a bit, but the general looseness of our game has to be looked at for next week.”
