Best Lions XV From The Last 3 Tours
- 3749
With the Lions squad being announced today and the anticipation of the upcoming series front and centre for the fans, we dive into picking the best starting XV over the last three tours. In 2009 the tourists played to a 2-1 series loss to the reigning world champions, South Africa, followed by a successful trip to Australia in 2013 and a drawn series against New Zealand in 2017 who were also world champions.
There are some obvious easy picks but the struggle came in the loose trio with Sean O'Brien just missing out and the midfield was tough with Jamie Roberts missing out to fellow countryman Jonathan Davies at 12 who played at both 12 and 13 for the British and Irish Lions in test matches.
