ChampionsCup

Match Facts

This will be the first ever meeting between Sharks and Harlequins, as well as Sharks’ first ever game in an EPCR competition and the first time Harlequins have faced off against South African opposition.

Harlequins have won five of their last six games in the Champions Cup (L1), however, their only defeat during that period came in their most recent match away from home (26-40 v Montpellier in April 2022); five of their last six wins in the competition have come after they had either been trailing or tied with their opponents at half-time.

Harlequins have won each of their last four pool stage matches in the Champions Cup after losing three in a row at this stage previously, however, three of those wins have come by margins of just three points or fewer.

Eventual runners-up Leinster (5.9) were the only side to score more tries per game than Harlequins (4.5) in last season’s Champions Cup, with Harlequins also having the third highest average possession rate of any side in the competition last term (54.5%).

Harlequins’ Alex Dombrandt was the joint-top try-scorer amongst forwards in last season’s Champions Cup (7, also Sam Simmonds) and was one of just three players to register over one try per game played in last season’s competition (1.17, min. 5 games played).
