Full time here at Ellis Park with the Golden Lions eventually grinding out the victory to secure the maximum 5 points and get their place in the Currie Cup semi finals. A very good performance shown today from a under strength Griquas side who are fighting for survival in the Currie Cup. Griquas started the game very well leading by 13 point but Lions got into their stride and reduced the gap. Griquas went into half tie leading by 4 and the story of the 2nd half was based on the out-standing kicking from both kickers with the game being tied twice in the 2nd half. Griquas start the second half well increasing their lead to 7 through the boot of Gouws Prinsloo. The Lions respond immediately with increased pressure on the Griquas scrum and line-out to eventually break through for their first try of the second half from Willie Wepener, Marnitz Boshoff adds the extras to make it a tie after 52 minutes.
Jaco Peyper indicates the beginning of the second half, the Lions will have a lot of work to do in this half if they are to get maximum points from this game. Griquas have had a very good first half and they will look to keep up the pressure.
