Ripia edges the BOP within striking distance when he slots his third penalty kick. But 3 minutes later, Kerr cancels out Ripia's three points with a long distance effort. BOP chasing this game now - 7 minutes to go.

Counties claw back the lead in the 64th minute. They find themselves in the BOP twenty-two, hammering against the defences, until finally Elliot burrows over. Kerr converts. We're in for a tight finish..

The BOP pack has convincingly dominated the Counties pack this half. BOP earn a penalty on half way and kick for touch. The forwards secure line-out ball and construct the rolling maul. They tear over the line and Nathan Harris surfaces with ball in hand. Minutes later, Kerr knocks an offside penalty through the uprights to narrow the lead. BOP still with momentum and the scoreboard on their side.

Perfect start to the second half from BOP - They show great patience in attack, slowly building their way toward the Counties' line - organised, disciplined rugby. Eventually, the pressure begins to tell when Counties are caught offside and are penalised accordingly. Ripia steps up and guides the ball through the uprights. 2 points the difference.

Minutes later, BOP find themselves tearing through a back-pedalling Manukua defence. But just when a try seem inevitable, halfback Samisoni Fisilau fumbles a wayward pass, bringing an end to the attack, and the half. No points, but BOP accumulating momentum. An interesting second half to follow - Counties ahead by five, but Bay of Plenty hot on their heels!

BOP are penalised for handling on the ground, and Counties point to posts. Kerr obliges from a comfortable position, extending the lead to five. Bay of Plenty looking increasingly dangerous, whilst Counties seem somewhat taken aback by their surge in confidence.
