Argentina scored early in the second half, but France hit back soon after to trail 14-10. A penalty for France closed the gap to a single point, before they scored again to hit the front at 18-14. Argentina scored to regain the lead by a point, but the see-saw battle continued as a French penalty saw them in front at 21-19. A penalty and a brilliantly taken drop goal looked to have won it for Argentina, but the French would have the final say as they mauled over with the last play of the match to sneak the victory.
