Devan Flanders

From a rugby mad family in the Hawke’s Bay, Flanders first signed up to Havelock North Rugby Club at the tender age of four.  Flanders was a member of the Hastings Boy’s High School 1st XV that won the national title in 2017.

Flanders went on to play in the New Zealand Secondary Schools team and received the illustrious Jerry Collins Memorial Bronze Boot in October 2017 for his efforts

In 2017, Flanders was named in the Hurricanes Under-18 team. 

A robust carrier and defender, he joined the Hurricanes during their 2018 Super Rugby pre-season and is a member of the Baby Blacks 2018 World Rugby U20 Championship squad.

In 2018 he joined Mitre 10 Cup side Hawke's Bay.

Flanders then signed for the Hurricanes squad in 2020.

Flanders began a meteoric rise through the senior rugby ranks which saw him play for the Magpies before receiving his first professional contract with the Hurricanes for the 2020 season.

He scored his first try for the Hurricanes during their Super Rugby Aotearoa game against the Highlanders in 2020.    Devan Flanders enjoyed a breakout year, debuting against the Stormers in Cape Town, before playing in 11 of 13 games across the season.  

In August 2020, Flanders won the Hurricanes Rookie of the Year Award. Following it up with impressive stats across the 2021 Super Rugby season playing 10 games making 79 tackles and over 110 carry metres throughout the competition.
