Zac Von Appen is an exciting new addition to the NSW Waratahs ahead of the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season. Coming from a high-performance background, he is a graduate from St Augustine’s College and has represented Australia in rowing at the U23 World Championships. Weighing in at 119kg, Zac plays as a lock and was one of the key contributors to Sydney University's run to the Shute Shield Grand Final.
Zac's athletic talent runs in the family. He is the son of Olympic Gold medalist Mario Von Appen, who represented Germany in kayaking at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. His mother also represented Australia at the World Championships in kayaking.
