Dan McCormack Named as Leinster Rugby CFO

Leinster Rugby has this morning confirmed Dan McCormack as its new Chief Financial Officer and that he will join the organisation in November.

McCormack has over a decade of involvement in sports administration having spent the last two years as the Finance Director of the FAI, which followed six years with British Tennis / the LTA where he was the Head of Finance.

He has also served as a Director of Hockey Ireland for the past three years where he acts as the Chair of their Finance, Risk and Audit Committee.

McCormack replaces Eleanor Ryan who will leave Leinster Rugby after more than 23 years of service to the club.

Speaking this morning Leinster Rugby CEO, Shane Nolan said, "First and foremost, I think it's important to acknowledge Eleanor's incredible contribution to Leinster Rugby.

"It is hard to put into words or to do justice to her legacy and how crucial a role she played in the evolution of this club and this organisation. Eleanor was there in the early days in the portacabins in Donnybrook and has overseen everything from the introduction of professionalism, redevelopment at Energia Park and the Ken Wall Centre of Excellence, to the move to the RDS, the move to our offices in UCD and everything in between.

"Leinster Rugby is in rude health on and off the field and Eleanor played a pivotal role in that as part of the senior management team for many years and has been a great support to me and in my role.

"We couldn't wish her and Peter, and their family, more luck and happiness on her retirement at the end of this year and thank her sincerely for all her work.

"She has left big shoes to fill but we are delighted to have secured someone of Dan's calibre to do just that.

"He comes with a very impressive resumé and past experience of working in the media and in the sports industry, and we feel that he is the perfect fit for where Leinster is now and where Leinster is going.

"There is so much change coming down the tracks with a move back to the RDS Arena coming ever more into view, the ever-evolving nature of the women's game and of course, the continuing funding of the professional and the domestic game at all levels of our sport.

"Dan's experience in Ireland and in the UK will be invaluable and we very much look forward to welcoming him to Leinster Rugby in the next few months."

Prior to his work in the sports industry, McCormack spent over ten years working in the media sector having held several financial management roles at Sky, including the position of Financial Controller for Team Sky pro cycling, the BBC, and Pinewood Studios.

Also speaking this morning, McCormack added, "It is an honour to be asked to take on this post and a privilege to continue the positive work being carried out by Leinster Rugby.

"I look forward to working with the Board, the talented senior leadership team, the club’s trusted partners, and its passionate and committed colleagues to progress Leinster’s collective strategic ambitions.”
