California Legion has signed flanker Ed Timpson, reinforcing the back row with a high-output forward who made an immediate impact during his first Major League Rugby season.
Timpson represented RFCLA throughout the 2025 MLR campaign, emerging as one of the league’s most productive forwards. In his debut season, he appeared in 15 matches, starting 13, scoring seven tries, and completing 164 tackles. His work rate and consistency helped RFCLA finish third in the Western Conference and qualify for the postseason for the first time in club history.
A product of the University of Nottingham, Timpson developed in the BUCS system before graduating in 2023. Following university, he moved to Australia and joined Northern Suburbs in Sydney’s Shute Shield, gaining experience in a fast, physical competition. He later returned to England and earned a short-term contract with the Bristol Bears, appearing in the Premiership Rugby Cup ahead of the 2025 season.
Timpson’s influence was felt on both sides of the ball in MLR. He played the full 80 minutes in RFCLA’s Western Conference Semifinal against the Houston SaberCats and consistently featured among the league’s top tacklers at his position. His performances earned him RFCLA’s 2025 Forward of the Year honor, along with multiple MLR Team of the Week selections.
At 6-foot and 235 pounds, Timpson brings pace, physicality, and defensive reliability to the Legion back row. His scoring ability, breakdown presence, and engine make him a valuable addition as California Legion builds toward the 2026 season.
