Pro D2 recap | Round 26
The Tafili father and son make history, Agen puts pressure on the top 6 and Nevers secures its first away win of the season… Recap of the 26th round.
The highlights of Matchday 26 ⬇️
- Agen Strikes Back
! The Lot-et-Garonne side pulled off a double victory! They secured a win against Aurillac, a direct competitor in the race for qualification, and in doing so, put pressure on the top six. The 21-38 victory included a bonus-point try scored by the dynamic Australian, Cummins, in stoppage time. With these five points earned in Cantal, SUA remains in 7th place but is now 10 points behind 8th and 7 points behind 6th-placed Brive, who occupy the qualification zone .
- Provence bounces back.
It had been five matches since the Provençal side last won. This poor run of form is now a thing of the past, as Philippe Saint-André's men have bounced back. A 42-33 victory against a tenacious Stade Montois side denied Provence a bonus point. However, this win is a welcome boost to morale and also helps them in the standings as they battle for third and fourth place, which would guarantee them home playoff matches.
- Oyonnax secures its place.
Threatened by Agen's bonus-point victory in Aurillac, the Oyomen had every reason to secure a good result against Brive. The Corrèze side, 5th in the standings before their trip to the Ain region, ultimately lost their position to Oyonnax. Clinical and combative, Oyonnax won 26-11, thus gaining one place in the standings and further securing their spot in the top 6.
The stat: 1. “Nevers say never” 👍
Never say never. It took until the 26th matchday, but the Burgundians finally did it, and did it in style. USON secured their first away win of the season after a thrilling match at the Aguilera stadium. The score was 28-31 at halftime, then 38-41 at the final whistle in favor of the Nivernais, who never gave up, as evidenced by the tries scored by Rocher, Petriashvili, Bouyssou, Belaubre, Zazadze, and Jules-Rosette.

And so the Tafili family made rugby history. In the 54th minute of the match against Béziers, father and son, both Vannes players, walked onto the pitch at the Stade de la Rabine, sealing a truly momentous occasion. A family celebration they were able to properly commemorate after a resounding 71-0 victory against Béziers.
