Statement win for Saracens against Clermont
- 272
It was a slow start to the game but Saracens stepped it up, putting up the first score through Lucio Cinti when he chased down a lobbed Elliot Daly kick. Clermont were forced into defence mode making almost double the number of tackles that Saracens made. Cinti wiggled his way through Clermont’s defence at the half hour mark to score a brace. The French side tried to fight back but failed to convert their chances. A defensive blunder from Bautista Delguy saw Saracens score their third, with hooker James Hadfield scoring the bonus point try just before half time.
Shortly after the break Axel Guillaud got the visitors on the scoreboard to lift their morale but 19-year-old Noah Caluori hit straight back. Harry Plummer also grabbed one back for Clermont.

Tries from Hugh Tizard and Theo Dan sealed the victory and marked a statement performance for Saracens.
An ideal start for Sarries’ Investec Champions Cup campaign while the French side have much work to do ahead of Sale Sharks next week.
Some of the standout players from the game are Hugh Tizard who earned the player of the match, Tom Willis, veteran Owen Farrell, Lucio Cinti with a brace and fullback Elliot Daly.
