Gerber’s professional rugby career started at the Cheetahs in 2002 where he played for the U21s, South Africa U21 and the Cheetahs senior team in 2003 & 2004. Trying to gain more experience, the prop headed to Leeds where he spent 2 years in the Premiership before returning home to the Blue Bulls in 2006. 2009 saw the tighthead moving to Europe again, this time signing with Stade Frances. The 2012 season brought the prop back to the Bulls with a shift to the the Sharks in 2013.
