A veteran of three Rugby World Cups, Dumbrava can play either as full-back or as a number ten. He has won three national titles and four Romanian Cups with Steaua Bucharest, being part of the team for more than fifteen years. He made his debut for Romania's senior side back in 2002, and has won over 70 caps and scoring over 350 points so far. In 2015 he was selected to represent Romania the Rugby World Cup for a fourth time.
