World Rugby Player Of The Year Pieter-Steph du Toit Confirms That He Will Remain At The Stormers

World Rugby Player of the Year and World Cup winner, Pieter-Steph Du Toit has turned down a massive offer from French club Montpellier to remain at the Stormers and Western Province, André van der Veen who serves on the WPRFU's steering committee confirmed.

All professional players in South Africa were given a 21-day window, which closes tomorrow, to cancel their current contracts in favour of overseas deals as part of a salary-cut deal between MyPlayers, SA Rugby and the provincial unions.

This lead to du Toit being reportedly offered a deal that would see him become the highest-paid player in the World with a three-year contract at Montpellier.

However, he has opted to stay with the Stormers and take a 40% pay cut.

'I was informed this morning that Pieter-Steph remains [at the union],' André van der Veen, who serves on the WPRFU's steering committee, told Netwerk24 on Thursday.

'He will accept the same pay cut as everyone else. He's a team man through and through.'
