Rugby Club Toulonnais is pleased to announce the signing of the most capped Welsh international in rugby history: Alun Wyn Jones. The second line will join Toulon in the coming days as Joker World Cup.
Alun Wyn Jones joined the Ospreys at the age of 19 from the Neath-Swansea franchise, where he started his professional career. Only a few months later, he played his first test match with his country Wales, of which he was later named captain in 2009. An extremely complete and agile player, he excelled in all phases of combat while remaining very active in the field with his indisputable leadership.
In October 2020, after having worn the Welsh jersey 158 times, Alun Wyn Jones became a playing legend as he became the most capped player in modern history, ahead of former All Blacks Captain Richie McCaw.
After announcing his retirement from international rugby last May, Alun Wyn Jones decided to explore a new rugby and cultural experience in France while watching the 2023 Rugby World Cup from on the sidelines. The impressive second rower will take up residence in France with his family to discover the TOP 14 under the colors of Toulon, from the start of the 2023-2024 season.
“ We are delighted and honored to welcome a legendary player like Alun Wyn Jones to Toulon. His career demonstrates the immense talent of this player.
