Five rounds of the Gallagher Premiership remain and three clubs, possibly Bristol Bears too, face a very important run of games that will determine whether they face the drop to the Championship or remain in England's top tier of professional rugby. Round 17 saw Newcastle claim a massive win over Sale, while Bristol Bears fell to Worcester Warriors at Ashton Gate, a result that could have serious implications on both of their chances of staying up.
For Newcastle to stay up, they must win all three of their remaining home games, with trips away to Saracens and Gloucester not the most ideal venues to pick up points along the way. Worcester also face Saracens and Gloucester over the final rounds but host those clubs at Sixways.
A loss to Northampton at home has brought Leicester Tigers into the conversation of relegation, they currently lie five points from safety and have been conceding too many tries to stay competitive in matches. They travel to Newcastle in R 19 and a win away from home could secure their safety with two home games from the final three.
