Tale of the Tape - Leicester Tigers vs. Scarlets

Last season's Champions Cup semi-finalists Scarlets travel to Welford Road to face two-time European Cup winners Leicester Tigers in the opening fixture from Round 2 of the Heineken Champions Cup.

Both sides succumbed to defeat in the opening round and will be looking to keep their hopes of progression to the knockout stages alive with a victory tonight.

England wing Jonny May returns to the Tigers starting XV as they make three changes from the side that ran out in defeat at the hands of Ulster in Belfast last Saturday.

Club captain Tom Youngs is a late withdrawal for Tigers, Wallaby hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau comes into the side, making his first start of the season.

The Welsh region has suffered multiple injuries to a host of first-team players including Jake Ball, Rhys Patchell, Aaron Shingler, Johnny McNicholl and James Davies.

Head Coach Wayne Pivac has made four changes to his Round 1 side which sees Tom Price replace Ball in the second row, Macleod comes in for Ed Kennedy on the flank.

Dan Jones deputises into the flyhalf role for Angus O' Brien who is sidelined with a knee injury and youngster Ioan Nicholas makes a rare start on the wing.

• Tigers have now lost five consecutive Champions Cup matches – their worst tournament run
• This will be the 10th clash between Leicester and Scarlets. The Welsh region have won just twice before against the English side and have lost on all four occasions at Welford Road.
• Last season, Leicester lost two of their three home games in the pool stage for the first time in their European Cup history. However, they are unbeaten at home against Welsh opposition.
• Scarlets picked up 11 points from their three away games in the pool stage last season, their best return since 2007
• Leicester also conceded more penalties than any other side in Round 1.
