Super Rugby Aotearora Team of the Week - Round 2
- 3343
Round two is complete and the big talk was around whether the Blues could continue their good form and how the Crusaders will arrive after missing week one. Both questions were answered emphatically as the Blues and Crusaders cruise home.
1: Joe Moody - Crusaders
Solid by Moody and a great run leading up to the opening try
2: James Parsons - Blues
Solid outing by Parsons as the Blues set piece fired against the Chiefs.
3: Mike Alaalatoa - Crusaders
Great work by Alaalatoa in open play with a number of carries and solid defensive effort.
4: Patrick Tuipolotu - Blues
Incredible again by the Blues captain, two weeks in a row too. Tuipolotu beat four defenders and made 14 tackles. His work at the breakdown has been sublime.
5: Naitoa Ah Kuoi - Chiefs
12 Tackles and a turnover win by the youngster. The Chiefs won 13 of their 15 line outs.
6: Akira Ioane - Blues
Incredible performance by Ioane on his first game back. Usually at 8 he made a huge impact on the side of the scrum with 10 carries, making all of his 12 tackles and 3 turnover wins.
7: Billy Harmon - Crusaders
Harmon started the game well with a great set of hands in the lead up to the opening try after just 60 seconds. This followed a solid game for the Crusaders with multiple carries and off the ball work
8: Hoskins Sotutu - Blues
Already being mentioned as a future All Black 8 Sotutu rumbled through the Chiefs with 15 tackles, 7 carries, 1 try assist and a try of his own.

9: TJ Perenara - Hurricanes
Superb tempo by Perenara kept the Hurricanes in the hunt against the Crusaders but was unable to get his side over the line. Sam Nock deserves a mention for his display for the Blues
10: Richie Mo’unga - Crusaders
Near perfect display by the All Black pivot guiding the Crusaders to an opening game bonus point win
11: Ben Lam - Hurricanes
Solid in a losing performance beating 2 defenders, 1 clean break and 1 offload
12: TJ Faiane - Blues
Another good run out by Faiane who cleaned up his defence this week with a perfect record in that department. He lead the game with turnovers won too.
13: Vince Aso - Hurricanes
Solid performance by Aso on the end of a loss. He beats the Crusaders midfield pair into the team.
14: Mark Telea - Blues
Back to back inclusions in the TOTW for Telea after scoring the match winning try for the Blues. Ellusive and deadly with ball in hand. Telea beats Sevu Reece to the 14 jumper even after the All Black rookie scored this wonder try
