Ratings: New Zealand v Australia

The All Blacks bounced back from a joint-highest defeat last weekend to comprehensively beat the Wallabies at Eden Park.

We have rated the two starting line ups out of a possible 10.

All Blacks

1. Joe Moody - 6.5

A far better performance from Joe Moody this week. Improved in the scrum and threw his weight around on defence but was guilty of giving a few silly penalties away.

2. Dane Coles  - 4

Got through his usual work well carrying strongly, tackling well and was accurate at the set pieces but his silly yellow card for the slam on Nic White impacted his rating.

3. Nepo Laulala - 7

Simply superb on his return to test rugby. Sured up the All Blacks scrum and made a big impact on and off the ball and will have Owen Franks sweating over his starting role.

4. Patrick Tuipulotu - 6.5

Stepped up and got through a lot of work for the All Blacks. A reassuring performance with Barrett and Retallick sidelined.

5. Sam Whitelock - 7

Gave the All Blacks the platform to tear the Wallabies apart. Excellent at the lineouts and got through a mountain of work making a joint match-high of 17 tackles.

6. Ardie Savea  - 8

Outstanding game from Savea, he carried brilliantly and always gaining the extra yard or two and was just as impactful on defence and in the rucks.

Operated well at no.8 and flank.

7. Sam Cane  - 7.5

Put in a classic Cane performance, excellent over the ball, carried well and tackled superbly. Matt Todd continued Cane's work after the 65th minute.

8. Kieran Read - 7

Another strong game from the All Blacks captain. Read was all over the pitch, made his tackles, came up with a turnover and did his job to perfection.

9. Aaron Smith  - 8

Kicked really well as he found space in the Wallabies back field. His passing was as accurate as ever, ran in a great try as he followed the play well and came up with a try assist.

10. Richie Mo'unga - 8

Seemed more comfortable at first five than he has in the last few weeks. Showed off some of his Crusaders form to pounce on a loose ball to score the first try of the game.

His kicking pinned the Wallabies back in their half and he ran a great attack for 58 minutes before he left the field injury.

11. George Bridge - 9

George Bridge certainly made his presence known on his first start!

He got through so much work all over the pitch, particularly in defence. He grabbed a try and an assist.

He made over 70 running metres and was simply superb.

12. Sonny Bill Williams - 7.5

Assured performance. Solid in all facets of the game and bundled over to score.

13. Anton Lienert-Brown  - 7.5

Ran some great lines, defended well and combined well with Sonny Bill Williams.

Hardly put a foot wrong and was great in attack.

14. Sevu Reece - 8

Scored a blinder, defended well, was solid under the high ball and put the Wallabies back three under tremendous pressure.

15. Beauden Barrett - 8

Sparked a number of the All Blacks most threatening attacks, kicked really well and put the Wallabies under pressure.

Wallabies

1. Scott Sio - 3

Dominated up front in the scrums and in the rucks.

2. Tolu Latu - 6

One of the better Wallabies in defeat. Had a few shakey lineout throws but disrupted some of the All Blacks ball in the rucks and had a really nice kick early on in the match.

3. Allan Alaalatoa - 5

Had a hard time in the scrums but carried well and tackled well.

4. Izack Rodda  - 6.5

Joint top tackler with Read. Massive on defence but was driven back with ball in hand. Muscled up in the first half and was overall one of the better Wallabies.

5. Adam Coleman - 4

Got through some good defensive work but was part of Wallabies pack that got hit back regularly. Was a step down from Rory Arnold last week.

6. Lukhan Salakaia-Loto  - 4

Like Arnold, Salakaia-Loto got driven back and dominated up front. Far from his performance that he put in last week.

7. Michael Hooper - 5

As per usual he got through a ton of work but couldn't get the kind of go forward he was afforded last week

8. Isi Naisarani  - 6

Had a massive game on attack, carrying strongly and made a few nice breaks. Made over 60 running metres and is looking more and more comfortable at test level.

9. Nic White  - 5

Got the Wallabies out of a few sticky situations in the first half and was marked carefully by the All Blacks defence throughout.

Will Genia made quite a bit of difference when he came on.

10. Christian Lealiifano - 4

Had some really touches early on but couldn't convert and the Wallabies struggled to go forward ball with Leali'ifano on the pitch.

11. Marika Koroibete  - 5

Had a few flashes of brilliance and also got around the pitch well. Was shown up on defence too many times.

12. Samu Kerevi  - 5

Carried strongly, like he usually does, but was marked well by the All Blacks and wasn't as impactful as he was last week.

13. James O’Connor - 4

Largely anonymous throughout. Got little space out wide.

14. Reece Hodge - 5

Hodge was targeted by the All Blacks attack as they pinned him in the right hand corner. He did well to counter this in the first half but the floodgates eventually opened.

15. Kurtley Beale  - 4

Pressured by the All Blacks kicking game and had a few mishaps under the high ball. He did have a few nice touches on attack but none turned into anything too threatening.
