Premiership Highlights: Newcastle v Sale Sharks
- 955
The Newcastle Falcons edged the Sale Sharks 15-13 in round 2 of the Premiership. The Falcons opened the scoring with a penalty just five minutes in to lead 3-0, but missed a shot at goal around the midpoint of the first half. The Falcons piled on the pressure, which saw Sale reduced to 14 players for repeated offences deep in their own territory. Newcastle capitalized on their numerical advantage immediately, with a try five minutes from halftime to take a 10-0 lead into the break. Sale gained some momentum at the start of the second half and kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties ten minutes in to make it a four point ball game at 10-6. With a little under ten minutes remaining, the Sale Sharks hit the front for the very first time in the match, with their first try edging them ahead 13-10. However, there would be one last twist in the tale, as the Newcastle Falcons crossed for the match winning try with time up on the clock to snatch the victory and make it two wins form two in their return to the Premiership.
