- 1116
The Exeter Chiefs extended the gap over their nearest rivals in the table as they edged the Bristol Bears 25-22 in round 16 of the Premiership. The first half definitely belonged to Exeter, who crossed for two tries and added a penalty to open up a 15-0 lead. A late first half penalty saw Bristol get on the board as they went into the break trailing 15-3. Bristol started the second half with far more urgency and ran in two tries in quick succession in the opening ten minutes to hit the front for the first time in the match 17-15. An Exeter penalty with 15 minutes to play saw the visitors sneak in front by a single point, but Bristol hit back shortly after with their third try to regain the lead 22-18 with ten minutes left on the clock. However, Exeter would show just why they lead the standings, as a late try saw them snatch victory to move their advantage atop the table to eleven points.
