Players of the Day - Super Rugby

The Sharks and the Brumbies made it two from two in this year’s Super Rugby competition and here is our look at friday’s top performers.

Aphelele Fassi - Sharks

The fullback had an absolute stormer of a game this morning and his numbers will tell a lovely tale. Fassi scored two lovely tries that came from opposition mistakes. The No. 15 gained 105 metres with ball in hand, beat six defenders, made four carries and made seven out of his eight tackles today.

Makazole Mapimpi - Sharks

The Springbok flyer might have looked like he had a quiet game when you look at his numbers, but he was ever so influential especially near the tryline. Mapimpi did what he does best today and that is score tries when needed, he dotted the ball over the while line on two occasions in the first half which helped the Sharks build a comfortable lead.

Sikhumbuzo Notshe - Sharks

The former Stormers number 8 really put in a big shift for his new franchise and had a hand in two of the Sharks try. The loose forward gained 44 metres with the ball in hand, carried it six times, beat six defenders and had two clean breaks in his shift. On defence, the No. 8 managed to make six tackles giving him a 100% record.

The Rebels captain was unfortunately once again on the losing side this week but he put in a massive shift that almost brought them back into the game. The fullback made 106 metres with the ball in hand, managed 13 carries and beat siix defenders along with scoring a lovely individual try.

Pete Samu - Brumbies

The No. 8 wasnt of six players who got on the scoresheet for his side but he did put in a big performance and made sure his side was constantly on the front foot. Samu wracked up the most metres out of all the Brumbies players (63 metres), carried the ball six times and beat six defenders on the park.
