Eves was put under pressure by Nepo Laulala at scrum time and was substituted in the 66th minute
2. Leni Apisai - 6/10
Apisai had a busy first half making 2 turnovers and carried the ball 5 times. The Canes did get put under pressure at the scrums but Apisai did not concede the tighthead.
3. Jeffery Toomaga-Allen - 5/10
Toomaga-Allen also had a tough evening against a powerful Chiefs pack.
4. Samiuela Lousi - 7/10
Lousi was handy on attack making 5 offloads and linked up well with his lock partner throughout the game.
5. Vaea Fifita - 7/10
Fifita showed exactly why he was selected as injury cover for the All Blacks, the Canes lock was lively throughout the match and got his side on the scoreboard when he bashed over the line in the 6th minute.
The second rower improved from there making 10 tackles.
6. Brad Shields - 5/10
A quiet game from Shields as he made 4 tackles and only carried the ball 5 times.
7. Callum Gibbins - 6/10
A lively 60 minutes for Gibbins making 8 carries and 6 tackles before he was substituted
8. Ardie Savea - 8/10
The best Hurricanes forward on the night Savea carried the ball 10 times beating 2 defenders and made 47 metres with the ball in hand.
Savea was constantly putting pressure on the Chiefs ruck and made 7 tackles.
9. TJ Perenara - 6/10
Perenara was outplayed by his opposite number in the match and was forced into some silly errors, as he conceded 3 turnovers.
He did, however, pick up a clean break and a try assist.
10. Beauden Barrett - 8/10
Beauden Barrett showed why he is the All Black incumbent, as he terrorised the Chiefs defence throughout the match. Barrett made over 30 passes in the match, making only a single bad pass. Unfortunately, his performance was in vein as the Chiefs claimed a 14-17 victory.
11. Julian Savea - 6/10
Playing in his 100th Super Rugby match Julian Savea would have liked to have received more of the ball.
The All Black winger made 33 metres in the game beating 2 defenders.
12. Ngani Laumape - 5/10
An unusually quiet game for Laumape, he made just 27 meters despite beating 2 defenders.
13. Vince Aso - 7/10
Aso made the most of his 59 minutes beating 3 defenders and making 28 meters.
He put in a fantastic tackle to deny Cruden his second try, but made way for Matt Proctor in the 2nd half.
14. Nehe Milner-Skudder - 7/10
Milner-Skudder made meters and beat 4 defenders in his 60 minutes on the field.
The speedster always looked threatening but was often shut down by a solid Chiefs defence.
15. Jordie Barrett - 8/10
Jordie Barrett was as influential as ever making 6 offloads and picking up a try assist.
The fullback also showed nerves of steel as he converted a tough conversion late on when the Canes looked as if they could turn the game

The Chief's loosehead had a solid 72 minutes for his side as the Chiefs pressurised the Hurricanes pack.
2. Nathan Harris - 5/10
Harris had a pretty quiet game for his standards making 5 tackles in his 59 minutes on the field. He did, however, put some pressure on the Canes scrum.
Harris failed to find his jumper on 2 occasions.
3. Nepo Laulala - 6/10
Laulala was a tough customer at scrum time causing Chris Eves some real problems.
4. Dominic Bird - 7/10
Bird had a solid game up front making 8 tackles.
5. Michael Allardice - 4/10
Allardice made 6 tackles in the match, but he could have cost his side the match when he was sent off from an illegal clear out at the ruck.
6. Mitchell Brown - 7/10
Brown put in another good performance for the Chiefs making 8 tackles and carried the ball 5 times.
7. Sam Cane - 8/10
The Chiefs co-captain was at his usual best, as he slowed the Hurricanes ball down at the breakdown.
8. Liam Messam - 6/10
Messam was effective on attack making 37 metres from his 7 carries. He also played a key role in the Chiefs 1st try. The Chiefs no.8 did concede 4 turnovers.
9. Tawera Kerr-Barlow - 9/10
Kerr-Barlow made 10 tackles in the match and was technically good making 49 passes in the match without a single bad pass.
10. Aaron Cruden - 6/10
Cruden was lively in the first half grabbing the Chiefs first try and would have scored another if it wasn't for a fantastic cover tackle by Vince Aso. Cruden left the field at halftime and didn't return in the 2nd half.
11. James Lowe - 8/10
Another solid performance by the Chiefs winger, he made 96 metres beating 3 defenders and was on hand to score another try for his side.
12. Charlie Ngatai - 7/10
Ngatai lasted 55 minutes for the Chiefs before he was substituted. The All Black centre impressed in this game and looked as he had rediscovered the form that earned him an All Black call-up.
13. Anton Lienert-Brown - 10/10
Top notch all round performance from the All Black centre, he made 16 tackles in the game and emphasised why he was chosen in the All Black squad.
Liernert-Brown also made 109 metres with the ball in hand and made 3 offloads.
14. Solomona Alaimalo - 9/10
Alaimalo faced off against Julian Savea and the 21-year-old made it a tough evening for the Super Rugby Centurian with his brilliant defence.
Alaimalo made 4 crucial tackles in the game and was lethal on attack making 97 metres, with his 4 clean breaks

McKenzie had a fantastic game for the Chiefs, despite moving into the flyhalf position at half time.
