Harlequins sign scrum-half Luc Jones
Harlequins sign former Newport Gwent Dragons scrum-half Luc Jones on a three month deal.
The former Wales U20 joins with immediate effect and will provide cover for Calum Waters, who recently sustained an ankle injury.
“We are pleased to be able to bring in someone with Luc’s ability for the next three months. Following the unfortunate injury to Calum, it was important to secure the necessary depth at scrum-half ahead of a period of international unavailability," commented John Kingston, Harlequins Director of Rugby.
Double blow for Ospreys
Tyler Ardron and Jeff Hassler are both facing sometime on the sidelines after sustaining injuries over the last two weekends.
Ardron dislocated a thumb in the defeat to Ulster while Hassler was stretchered off with an Achilles injury towards the end of the first half in last Friday’s win over Cardiff Blues.
Chris Towers, Medical Performance Manager, confirmed:
“Tyler suffered a dislocated thumb which required a small surgical procedure at the end of last week. His recovery will keep him out for up to eight weeks.
“Jeff sustained an Achilles tendon injury on Friday night and investigations over the weekend and discussions with specialists have confirmed the injury doesn’t require surgery.
“However, he will be out of action for a prolonged period, with an initial prognosis of six to nine months.”
Lodewyk De Jager suspended for one match
South Africa lock Lodewyk De Jager suspended for one match after being cited for foul play during a Rugby Championship match at the weekend.
The referee for the match awarded a yellow card for the incident which occured at the 72nd minute.
The SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Adam Casselden SC has accepted a guilty plea from De Jager for contravening Law 10.4 (h) A player must not charge into a ruck or maul. Charging includes any contact made without use of the arms, or without grasping a player.
De Jager has been suspended from all forms of the game for 1 match up to and including Saturday 5 November 2016.
