Gloucester had to dig deep to beat Ulster in an absolute thriller at Kingsholm.

Gloucester lead until the final 20 minutes when Ulster scored 24 unanswered points. Gloucester scored two late tries to claim the deserved victory.

An entertaining first half started with Louis Rees-Zammit  scoring after just 6 minutes, but Billy Burns hit back 4 minutes later.

Gloucester took control of the game until halftime as they capitalized with a penalty and a penalty try after Ulster received two yellow cards in two minutes.


John Cooney pulled three points back but then took too long with his kick before halftime, to pull another back three points.

Gloucester went into half time with a 17-10 lead


The second half was more entertaining than the firs, as Mark Atkinson scored off the back of a maul, two minutes into the second half.

Ulster had a mountain to climb as they were 14 points down.

Ulster pressed and chased the game and scored back to back tries through Michael Lowry and a penalty try for Louis Rees-Zammit deliberately knocking a try scoring pass.

Ulster further extended their lead after Cooney landed a penalty before he snuck down the touchline to score a converted try in the corner.

That started a frantic final ten minutes. Gloucester were awarded a penalty try for another deliberate knock down.

Ulster had to defend their three point lead with 14 men.

Gloucester won a penalty after the hooter and put it into the corner. They took it to the line and had a penalty advantage, but they didn't go for the draw as they scored the winner to wrap up a sensational victory.
