Jordie Barrett signs for Hurricanes until end of 2021

The Hurricanes will breathe a sigh of relief after managing to secure the significant services of fullback Jordie Barrett until the end of 2021.
It is reported at newshub.co.nz that Barrett had the opportunity to switch clubs in the final year of his contract, according to a clause therein. He is still contracted to the NZRU until 2022.
Barrett has been in great form for the ‘Canes of late, the latter relishing his educated boot, sublime running lines and all-round control at the back.

Head coach John Holland had the following to say:
“Jordie has become an integral part of this Hurricanes squad. Off the field, he holds massive respect and has excellent input into how we play. On the field, he has taken his game to the top level and has thrived on the added responsibility bestowed upon him this season.”
The ‘Canes General Manager of Rugby, Ben Castle, is thrilled with the development:
“Players will have options in their contract, that’s the nature of the professional rugby world we are in. The club has a huge amount of respect for Jordie as a person and a player and we are delighted he’s chosen to stay in Wellington in 2021.”
Barrett, 23, currently has 58 caps for the Hurricanes since 2017 as well as 17 All Black appearances.
