Hamstring injury ends Tuilagi's Tigers season

The Leicester Tigers will have to do without their star England centre Manu Tuilagi for the remainding two games in the Premiership with the centre suffering a hamstring injury.

The Tigers are not yet entirely safe from relegation due to a painful late 23-20 home reverse at the hands of Bristol Bears, a game that Tuilagi had already missed.

The 27-year-old was forced off towards the end of Leicester's win at bottom side Newcastle on 12 April and spent extended time on the sidelines last year with knee and groin injuries.

"It's probably a three or four-week injury, so he'll be out until the season's done for us," Tigers head coach Geordan Murphy told BBC Radio Leicester.

Tuilagi recently re-signed with Leicester Tigers after turning down lucrative offers in France, including one from Racing 92.

He is expected to be fit for England later this year as they build up to the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The Tigers also have another injury concern in their midfield with Geordan Murphy stating that Kyle Eastmond is "touch and go" for Friday's game against Harlequins.
