Dean Mumm suspended for one week

Wallabies flanker Dean Mumm has received a one-match ban for striking All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick during Saturday's Bledisloe Cup test in Auckland.

Duty judicial officer Robert Stelzner accepted an early guilty plea from Mumm, who will miss the Wallabies test against Wales on November 5.

The incident wasn't picked up by referee Nigel Owens, but was deemed by the citing commissioner to have met the red card threshold.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika earlier defended Mumm and said Retallick was hardly an innocent bystander.

"I don't want to talk about it too much because there's a hearing to go but he is not looking at all the action," Cheika said on Sunday.

"He [Mumm] is trying to get back from being held illegally."

Mumm has been suspended from all forms of the game for 1 match up to and including Saturday 5 November 2016.
