Nottingham Rugby have confirmed the signing of lock Danny Qualter from PRO12 side Connacht, on a one-year deal.
The 25 year-old Irishman has made 14 appearances for the Connacht across the last five seasons.
Standing at 1.98 metre tall and weighing in at 119 kgs, the former Ireland Under-20 will add extra power to the Green & Whites second row.
Head coach Ian Costello commented on the signing of Qualter:
"At the end of very extensive search inside and outside of England, we identified Danny as the best fit to play with us next season. He has played within a very similar system and he has a very good understanding of how we play. He has huge athletic potential, is extremely powerful, has a background in other sports and therefore an impressively rounded skill set.
"He's acquired a lot of experience over the last number of years at PRO12 level, runs the lineout and will add a significant amount of leadership to the group. I expect that he will come in and hit the ground running and will adapt very quickly. I'm really excited that we have signed someone of Danny's calibre in terms of his ability and character, further highlighting the club's ambition moving forward.”
