Anglo-Welsh Cup Highlights: Northampton Saints v Harlequins
- 1587
Northampton were thoroughly dominant in their 36-10 victory at home to Harlequins in this Anglo-Welsh Cup fixture. Early tries from George North and Tom Stephenson gave the hosts a 14-0 lead inside 10 minutes. It was plain sailing from here and further scores from Tuala and Pisi gave the Saints a somewhat unassailable 28-0 lead at the half-hour mark.
Quins began to respond and looked dangerous inside the Northampton 22 but silly errors cost them. Prop Mark Lambert managed to power his way over with a pick and go to get Quins on the board before half-time. The score was 28-5 at the interval.
The second half was a bit lighter in terms of scores but a Piers Francis penalty and another Ken Pisi try cemented Northampton's dominance in the game. Harlequins played until the final whistle and Joe Marchant managed to cross the whitewash with two minutes remaining - Too little too late for the visitors and they will be hoping Saracens do them a favour away at Exeter tomorrow so they can progress to the semi-final of the tournament.
