World Rugby U20 Highlights: South Africa v Ireland
- 2129
South Africa defeated Ireland 30-17, possibly a flattering scoreline with the individual brilliance of Wandisile Simelane proving the difference between the two sides. The Springboks opened the scoring early on following a charged down kick but Ireland stayed in the fight and a Caelan Doris try on 34 minutes led to a 12-10 scoreline in favour of South Africa at the interval. Ireland dominated the early contests in the second half and a Michael Silvester try gave them a 17-12 lead with half an hour remaining. However, a hatrick of superb tries from Simelane put South Africa on the front foot. Despite losing their talismanic outhalf Damien Willemse, the South Africans were able to grind out a win.
