Who should play Fullback against Ireland if Mike Brown is not available?

Alex Goode

The Saracens man is favourite at the moment should Brown fail to recover from the head injury he suffered against Italy. Goode was more involved in last years Six Nations and was part of the 23 matchday squad for all but one of their five games in last years championship. However he has not been on the bench or featured in the opening two games and if given the opportunity will look to impress if Brown is unable to play against Ireland.

Chris Pennell

He may be playing in the Championship but that did not stop Stuart Lancaster from drafting Pennell into the squad after doubts emerged over Browns availability for Sunday’s game. The 27-year-old was named man of the match in England Saxons win over the Irish Wolfhounds earlier this month and if he is selected Lancaster will expect a similar performance.

Anthony Watson

Another option for Lancaster would be to move Watson out from the wing and start him at Fullback. A role that Watson would not be too unfamiliar with as he plays there for his club Bath week in week out. With rumours circulating that Jonny May could be dropped for Jack Nowell, Lancaster may take the easier option to keep Jonny May in the starting XV and move Watson to Fullback and start Nowell on the right wing.
