Wales rocked by Navidi injury blow
- 1924
Warren Gatland has revealed that Wales star flanker Josh Navidi has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup with a replacement now to be called up.
However, reports suggest that the new face is set to be a back rather than a forward, with Wales still sweating on the fitness of centre Jonathan Davies.
Navidi has a grade two tear of his hamstring, with Gatland saying: "It’s disappointing for him. We’ll keep him out here. It will be nice for him to stay out for the next couple of weeks. He’ll obviously lose his accreditation.
"It’s disappointing for us to have a player ruled out.
"In saying that, these games are so physical to have only lost one player is a real positive for us."
Commenting on Davies' injury Gatland said: "He was touch and go for the weekend. He’s been doing rehab and recovery."
“Hopefully he’ll be up and running for a very light session tomorrow.
“We’ll be doing more of the rugby on Wednesday.
“Hopefully he’s fit and available.”
Scott Williams or Owen Lane are two candidates likely to replace Navidi will be considered as replacements.
